Tipperary’s outstanding and varied sporting prowess, were highlighted at the Minella Hotel in Clonmel last Saturday night at the 50th Annerville Awards Ceremony. Over the past five decades Tipperary sportsmen and women in innumerable disciplines have made the proud walk to accept their awards. Paul O’Brien of Lakeside, Templemore now joins the elite of Pitch & Putt Players from around the county who have received this award. Paul proved to be a hugely influential member of the Irish side that won the World Cup for the first time ever and according to the official World Cup Website he was dubbed as the “Star of the Tournament”. O’Brien became the first Tipperary Man to play at the World Cup and he certainly didn’t disappoint when he won 6 matches from 6 to become only the second person in the tournaments history to achieve this feat. We congratulate Paul on winning this award and also thank the Tipperary United Sports Panel along with Bulmers who continue to honour the Pitch & Putt players of the county on the achievements that they bring to the game of Pitch & Putt.
